Why Nitrox?

Diving with enriched air

Enriched Air Nitrox contains more oxygen and less nitrogen than compressed air. Common mixes EAN32 and EAN36 may allow longer no-decompression limits on suitable profiles, including repetitive dives. This does not automatically make every dive longer or safer.

Oxygen partial pressure limits and maximum operating depth (MOD) are crucial. Correct gas analysis and dive planning are therefore central to Nitrox training.

EAN32 and EAN36 The most common Nitrox mixes, with 32% and 36% oxygen respectively.
Less nitrogen Suitable profiles may offer lower nitrogen uptake and longer no-decompression limits.
Oxygen limits Oxygen partial pressure limits how deep you can dive with a given mix.
Maximum operating depth MOD depends on oxygen content: the more oxygen, the shallower the MOD.

PADI Nitrox course FAQ

This is PADI's training for diving with Nitrox, a gas containing more oxygen than compressed air. Learn the basics, benefits and risks, determine maximum operating depth, analyse cylinders and plan Nitrox dives.

Yes. All theory is taught online through PADI eLearning. This is a theory-only course: practical dives are neither included nor required. After passing the PADI Nitrox final exam, you receive your digital certification in the PADI App.

After booking and payment verification, we assign your PADI eLearning access personally and then send you the access details.

No. Nitrox may extend no-decompression time on suitable profiles because it contains less nitrogen. But its higher oxygen percentage reduces maximum operating depth: every mix has a MOD that must not be exceeded.

The PADI Nitrox course uses official PADI eLearning. The ProNRC course uses our own online platform. Both cover the fundamentals of Nitrox diving and follow their respective organisation's requirements.
